Printer paper jam fix or workaround...

An easy way to fix a printer paper jam!
I bought an HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-In-One printer recently and almost immediately had problems with the paper seeming to jam or more accurately, not getting picked up by the paper feeder so the print out would stop with an error message that the printer was "out of paper." After a few frustrating printing sessions trying to stop this from happening by loading even more paper, more carefully fanning and stacking fresh paper, it occurred to me that the printer's paper feed pickup was pushing the top sheet back and simply couldn't pick up the next page. My simple solution? I put two small pieces of plastic left over from some other product packing box in the very back of the tray -- which keeps the paper firms pushed up to the front of the tray, where the printer's pickup can always find the next page. :) Now does this fix always work, 100% of the time? Not exactly... I've had two out-of-paper jams in probably fifty printed pages, but I figure that was due to the plastic pieces not fitting exactly snugly in the tray. I will keep my eye open for better fitting pieces but this is still a big improvement! And maybe you can do better, find nicely fitting pieces yourself. Hope this helps, saves you some frustration or a printer return.
